Easy To Prepare Recipe: thai fragrant coconut rice

I just learned some easy-to-prepare recipes and I'm dying to share them with you coz 1, I want to brag about what I know and 2, they are absolutely lovely.

I don't really like cooking but I have this friend, Samira, that really likes cooking and trying out new recipes. So this is basically for her. She'll cook. I'll eat ;)

INGREDIENTS
Pepper
1 bay leaf
1 cinnamon stick
1 lemon grass stalk (bruised and halved)
1-inch piece root ginger (sliced)
2 cloves
2 small thin strips of lime rind
2 tsp of ground nutmeg
1 tsp of salt
25g creamed coconut (chopped)
1 pint of water
Basmati rice

1. Put  the ginger, cloves, lemon grass, nutmeg, cinnamon stick, bay leaf, lime rind, creamed coconut, salt and water in a large pan and allow to boil over a low heat.

2. Add the rice, stir well, then cover and simmer over a very gentle heat until the liquid has been absorbed and the rice is tender but still has a bite to it. (That is approx. 15minutes)

3.Alternatevely, bring the mixture to the boil, then cover tightly and turn off the heat. Leave for 20-25minutes before removing the lid- the rice will be perfectly cooked.

4. Remove the pan from the heat, add pepper to taste, then fluff up the rice with a fork.

Viola..dinner is served!

action and repercussion

hi, my name is mariouss
and i feel like sharing my story.

(support group: hi mariouss)

thinking back decades ago, when we met
i thought her heartbeat must have to be everlasting
because as soon as i pressed my head against her chest
all i heard was the rhythmic 'thumping'
that defined who she were

the more infatuated i & her became
the more i heard that constant 'thumping'
in each step
in each breathe
when we touched
and every time we smiled
i was reminded of how alive she was
and how real she was
because without that reassuring 'thumping'
it felt like this was all a dream

but what happened that night
may 14th, 2011
at 2am
when we were arguing after beer , and you left for another drink
and i knew you would make a stupid decision
but it didn't matter to me at my level of rage
my mind was clouded with anger
and when i got that phone call
all the way from the hospital
all i could hear was 'thump thump thump'

i watched her breathe,
assisted with the blinking machine
i witnessed you fade,
i witnessed you, your liveliness disappeared
and i saw all the doctors rush in
with their masks and their machines
all trying to save you
all was a wasted attempt

now i am alone
i am without you
watching pre-recorded adventure time
and i picture your smile
your tiny wrist
those wrinkles at your eyes when you smile
but all i could hear
is the sound of her flatline

5 Facts About Lionel Messi

Lionel Messi, captain of the Argentina national team and ranked by many as the best soccer player in the world (true), is back in action after an injury earlier this year had Argentine fans nervous. Messi, who plays for club Barcelona in the regular season, suffered a torn hamstring last November that benched him for several weeks.
Here’s what you need to know about this devastating injury that almost sent the world’s best player into the stands.

1. He Tore His Hamstring

Lionel Messi, World Cup, FIFA, Argentina, Barcelona, best player in world, football, soccer, champion, top scorer, injury

The first time Messi injured his hamstring was at the end of September, on his right leg. The injury that put Messi on the bench occurred just 21 minutes into a Sunday afternoon game in November against Real Betis. Formal reports weren’t issued until the following Monday, when club physicians announced that Messi had indeed torn a muscle in the femoral bicep of his left leg. According to the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, this type of injury is very common and can be fixed without surgery, luckily, but it required inactivity, rest, and physical therapy to fully heal.

2. It Ended A Consecutive Record-Setting Streak

When Messi tore his hamstring, he had recently become the first player in history to score a goal in consecutive matches against every team in a professional soccer league. The historic score—in the 19th consecutive game—was during a Barcelona–Celta Vigo La Liga match. Though it wasn’t enough to tip the victory to Barcelona that night, Messi went down in the record books nonetheless. He extended his own record to 21 consecutive matches before the torn hamstring ended his streak.

3. His First Game Back With Barcelona Was A Win

Messi managed to put two in the net after a 59-day absence in his first game back after the injury. These goals led Barcelona to victory over Getafe in Copa del Rey, although Messi appeared in the game only as a second-half substitute. Though some critics said that Messi was risking another injury by playing so soon after recovery, Barcelona coach Gerardo Martino told the BBC that, “he has told me he is feeling fine and that’s why he is in the squad.”

4. The Injury May Have Cost Messi His Fifth Ballon D’Or

Anyone who claims Messi isn’t the world’s best player will usually stake a claim with Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo, who plays for Messi’s rival club team, Real Madrid. Messi has taken the Balloon D’Or (World Footballer of the Year) for the past four years, and was unseated by Ronaldo in what would have been his fifth annual win. When the award was announced in January, Messi had just returned to the field. The comeback, however, wasn’t enough and Ronaldo retook the trophy for the first time since 2008.

5. Injury? What Injury? Qualifying For The World Cup Is No Big Deal For Messi

In early June Messi, still playing as a substitute, scored his 38th goal for his national team for a win over Slovenia that sent Argentina to the 2014 World Cup finals. The goal was the first for Messi in an international World Cup qualifying match since before his first injury in September 2013, when he kicked a goal that led Argentina to victory over Paraguay. Leading into the final games of the Cup, however, Messi looks poised to be his same old record-breaking self.

The boss is BACK!

Tourist attraction for idiots

Let’s take a bunch of tourists with money to spend and throw them in a tigers pit for a once in a lifetime experience (it’s only gonna be ONCE for sure) and watch the fun begin. Nothing could possibly go wrong, right?..after all, it's just a tiger. That’s what Tiger Temple Thailand is all about!

The Thailand tourist trap offers visitors the chance to not only view tigers but get in the tiger pit with the big cats and frolic among them in the water. Everyone appears to have a grand time as they dangle sticks with plastic bags over the full grown tigers and shout with glee.
Sure, the tigers have probably been living in this environment since birth and are most likely well fed, but it’s a freakin’ tiger, people! Tigers kill people in India and Thailand every year, it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that maybe it’s not the smartest idea to jump around with a dozen of them and display yourself as an appetizer.
I got to be stupid to get in a pit with a tiger, let alone, a dozen... all these people are crazy.

The company has a website and quite possibly the greatest thing on the website is the F.A.Q.
"Question : IS IT SAFE TO LEAVE OUR BELONGINGS IN THE CAR?
Answer : YES However we recommend that you keep valuables with you at all time as we are not responsible for the loss of personal belongings. If an item is lost (this is a very rare event) we will support you to make a full claim on your insurance and we recommend that visitors have adequate insurance cover.”
Nothing about is it safe to be in a TIGER PIT!

I wonder what their next tourist visit will be to. Probably a place called Atlantis where you pay to swim with sharks..it will be great right?

When the bloodbath happens, and IT WILL HAPPEN, the only one to blame is the idiot who signed up for this big cat disaster.

Kanye West is on a mission from GOD

Kanye was asked about those slammering him for comparing himself to legends like Shakespeare, Steve Jobs.. on Power 106 FM and he said,

" Don't worry about how I'm saying what I'm saying. Look at what I'm saying and how I feel and how my intent is. You do not want to against the power. I'm working on one mission, and that's a mission from God. I'm gonna make it very clear exactly what I'm here to do. I'm here to help. I'm going to apply all the blessings I've got."
Surprising?

He once said, "I just told you who I thought I was, a god. Or will it be better if I wrote a song that says I'm a nigga?"

haha I like this guy, he says stupid "deep" things which he probably thinks makes him look philosophical
I like Kanye, he is a confused guy so he says stupid things..whatever.. but he's got talent, so we let all this slide.
Although he has turned into a fruit (... then came Kim, and his world turned mushy). Moist nigga

We all know heartbreak artist make great music yeah? See Adele, she's great. So I haven't lost hope on Kanye. Considering who his wife is, I'm expecting a better Kanye back , with deep songs also.

Nigeria Is At War

Before I go any further, I will like to remind us that I'm not a news agency, so this is not a news. Just me voicing my opinion on the present state of Nigeria - WE ARE AT WAR

The terrorist group called Boko Haram is tearing up the country slowly and the reaction of the citizens (80% of the population) is disappointing.

Boko Haram which means western education is forbidden, started by bombing churches and yet they say it is against education. We all know that's a load of crap - But that is not the focus of this post. The focus is on the reaction of Nigerians

You see the reaction of Nigerians far away from the bombings was just, a little sentiment "ehh, eeya, may God help the families", "ah it will not be well with this hausa people o", "thank God none of my family member or friends are there" - Because as long as it's  just some ish happening far away and not affecting me directly, it is cool right?

Even the president of Nigeria went dancing and singing at a campaign rally while nation mourned bomb blast victims 2 months ago. Our lives mean nothing, as long as your family is safe, it's all good.
I like the comments I read on premium times, he was lambasted.

Look at the incident concerning the chibok girls.
Abubakar Shekau, the face of boko haram said, "just because I took some girls, everybody is making noise..."

I agree to that. Don't get me misunderstood. My point is, people were bombed (burned alive or had buildings collapse on them), reaction: sentiment. Girls were kidnapped, reaction: noise (#BringBackOurGirls)

I still wonder who this bring back our girls thing is directed to.
The president? The elites? Governors? The army? Politians? Foreign power? or Boko Haram? Who?

I wonder, why was Ex Gov. Bola Tinubu holding a board with the inscription "BringBackOurGirls Sharply" and smiling? Is it a joke? Is this funny?

Look at Mitchell Obama's face, she isn't even from Nigeria but you can see the sadness on her face

or Dwayne Johnsons face, he looked like he was about to go "Rock Bottom" on Jonathans' ass or Shekau...which ever.

They say BringBackOurgirls is to show that people will not rest until the girls are brought back.
Err..that's  lie..I am resting.. You are resting.. So stop lying , you'll go to hell.

The only people not resting are the military (mainly the field soldiers though). And the soldiers could have been able to contain the insurgency, at least thwart most of their plans and save lives, if not for them being inadequately equipped and the presence of bad eggs at the top (in the political sector and military, but shhh, try exposing and you get killed).

I was pissed when I heard the president say, "we have help from abroad, so I'm optimistic that we will find the girls" - like shut the f**k up mhen (pardon me sir...lol... I gass be safe )

But really, Is our own army for show? Cant the bad eggs set the foreign military up also? Better go do some weeding, take out the bad eggs and fund the soldiers, equip them well.
Even a kid that plays call of duty will not pick a Kalashnikov 47(AK-47)  to fight terrorist with STG-44 #JustSaying

We are underestimating the boko haram terrorist.
I saw a couple of videos and pictures from my uncle (for security reasons, I cant post what he said or upload any of the pictures or videos here). The weapons of the terrorist is not "stick and stones", they have something as deadly as a M12 FAV 'warthog", while the Nigerian army is battling them with Kalashnikov - I pity them.
As my uncle put it, "Boko Haram is dealing with us. We kill few of them, they kill and injure a lot of us"

M12 FAV "Warthog"

We all thought they will die down the same way they came, suddenly. But instead they are getting more brazen

"the moment you underestimate your enemy, you lose the battle before it begin" - Art of War

Boko Haram is not doing random bombings as we all think. They are bombing strategically.

      Some Thoughts

·       can we have checkpoints in strategic places to be able to respond rapidly to a suspicious sighting. After all, we need an army that will protect us, not one that counts the amount of dead and injured in an explosion.

·       can the army stop violating humanitarian rights (what makes you different from what you are fighting). Stop beating civilians and doing whatever you want on the streets. You are here to protect or enforce lordship. Illegal searches, torture and extrajudicial killings should be stopped.
·       fortify the soldiers well. I heard a sad story of a boy that just finished from the Nigerian Defense Academy and got sent to the battle ground to join the fight against Boko Haram...he died...all 5 years in the academy gone to waste. It won't hurt to give the soldiers warthogs or gladiators, riot shields, flash bangs...(if you don't have them, then shame on the military). If you cant do an air strike because of civilian casualty, at least air scout will help a lot. The lives of the soldiers should be considered as well as the civilians too

gladiator

Let me stop here, the president is not reading this

But as they say, " you are 5 people away from someone "important""

My point is, let's get passionate and talk/do something

If a bunch of students can get passionate about the changing of their school name from unilag to maulag, then a majority of us can cause a change by being driving by our passion to act.

Ye that can pray, pray (the most important). Ye activist, activate something. Ye Elites, connect with your connections and Oga at the tops in the military, help the field soldiers.

We need to stop acting like it's all cakes and cream - this is war. So threat is as such, get serious.

Thank you for reading. Have a nice day
